Advantages and Disadvantages of 15-7pH Stainless Steel

    Advantages:

  • High Strength: This provides excellent tensile strength as well as the toughness of the coiled shape of the cylindrical bars.

  • Corrosion Resistance: There are also poor corrosion qualities such as stress corrosion cracking, but this material is resistant to many types of corrosion.

  • Heat Treatable: It can be heat treated in order to improve its strength characteristics or to put it in another way, its mechanical characteristics.

  • Good Formability: Also, a high extent of flow is achieved to display good formability in assorted manufacturing techniques.

    Disadvantages:

  • Limited Availability: This grade maybe less available in the market as with other stainless steel grades on the market today.

  • Cost: Compared to other ss alloys, it is relatively pricey.

  • Welding Challenges: Copper-based alloy needs special care during manufacture process in welding connecting plates due to risk of cracking.

  • Sensitivity to Hydrogen Embrittlement: Demands of some environments may cause it to become prone to hydrogen-induced cracking.
